KUALA LUMPUR: After being investigated for 10 days for alleged sex crimes in Shah Alam, a famous preacher was arrested again and will be transferred to the Petaling Jaya District Police Headquarters for another investigation.
Petaling Jaya District Police Chief Nik Ezanee Mohd Faisal said this followed two other reports filed against the 25-year-old preacher in the district.
The request for pretrial detention will be made tomorrow after the pretrial detention order for Shah Alam police ends today.
“This is to allow us to investigate two other reports related to rape and harassment, as well as carnal relations against the order of nature, which we previously received in the district,” he said in a statement today.
Prior to this, on November 26, the suspect was detained at the Shah Alam District Police Headquarters and held in pre-trial detention for five days, starting on November 27, after the first police report was filed in her against.
However, the preventive detention was extended for another five days, from December 2 until today, after another report.
Selangor CID chief Fadzil Ahmat said they had received a total of eight reports involving the famous preacher. However, two of them were classified as “no further action”.
He added that the police will carry out investigations on a case-by-case basis.
