Car theft syndicate in KL vandalized, three suspects captured

KUALA LUMPUR: A car theft syndicate here has been paralyzed after the arrest of three men.

Sentul OCPD Asst Comm Beh Eng Lai said police were alerted after a pickup truck theft near Taman Million was reported at 1.22 p.m. on November 11, 2020.

“We investigated the case before arresting three men between the ages of 48 and 52 on December 23, 2020.

“The controls revealed that the three suspects have vehicle theft records,” he said in a statement on Friday (January 1).

He said the union was believed to be active in Sentul, Jinjang, Kepong and other areas around the Klang Valley.

“Following the arrests, we also seized a van, two cars and two motorcycles worth at least RM 45,000.

“We are now tracking the whereabouts of several others who are still at large,” he said, adding that the suspects were held in pre-trial detention for three days before being turned over to police in another district for further investigation.
