PETALING JAYA: An auto dealer’s attempt to scam a customer at a sale by enlisting the help of two policemen to “arrest” him backfires.

The incident occurred on Sunday (December 27) when the salesman was with his client at Jalan PJU 1A / 54 and two men in police vests approached them.

Petaling Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Nik Ezanee Mohd Faisal said the customer, a foreigner, was with the seller at the time during a car purchase and the two men in police vests came and “arrested” the seller and confiscated the car just recently. bought.

He said that unfortunately for the seller, the customer filed a police report on the incident.

“On December 28, a raid on a hotel in Penang led to the arrest of the car salesman and a 28-year-old woman. A vest with the Customs Department logo was found along with 20,000 ringgit in cash, which we believe is cash. from the sale of the car, “he said.

Two more cars were seized there, including a Volkswagen believed to carry a false license plate.

Follow-up investigations led to two arrests on December 29 at the Kuala Muda police headquarters.

Both suspects were policemen.

A third policeman was arrested at the Ipoh Police Headquarters on the same day, following investigations into the two suspects.

“A house in Sungai Petani was also raided, where four more suspects were detained and the ‘impounded’ car recovered. Among the seized items were eighty suspicious drug pills,” he said.

ACP Nik Ezanee added that the investigation showed that the three policemen were paid around RM1,000 to assist the seller in the scam.
