KUCHING (Oct 24): Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg declines to comment on talks the federal government is considering declaring a state of emergency.
He said that as far as he was concerned, he didn’t know if there was going to be a state of emergency or not.
“I can’t comment if I don’t have the details. There are all kinds of comments on social networks, I am aware of that, but if it is true or not, I do not know.
“So how can I comment if I don’t know?” he said at a press conference after the ground breaking ceremony for the improvement of five roundabouts along the Kuching-Samarahan highway here today.
When asked if he agreed with the state of emergency if it was imposed, he responded along the same lines, saying that he could not comment without knowing details about the situation.
He said he did not want to comment on something that was “based on hearsay.”
“Yesterday, people said that the state of emergency will be announced, but there was no announcement.
“I cannot comment on something that is not real. Commenting comments based on rumors is not correct.
“If I comment on rumor-based comments, other people will comment on what I comment and then it will go on and on,” he said.
Abang Johari believed that the state of emergency was a “very serious matter”, so he refrained from commenting for the time being.
“If I have nothing or know anything about the subject, how can I comment. Be fair, lah, ”he said.
