PETALANDO JAYA: The advisor of the DAP, Lim Kit Siang, has requested a special session of Parliament to verify the “unbridled” situation of the Covid-19 in the country.
Lim said that the 1,925 new cases reported yesterday put Malaysia 35th among the world’s countries with the highest daily increase, and that the country “appears to be losing control of the pandemic.”
“The last cabinet meeting of the year today should try to rectify its mistakes in the war against the Covid-19 pandemic and should convene a special Parliament that will meet in January to address the situation runaway in the third wave of the pandemic, with a new strategy of the entire government and of the entire society, ”he said today in a statement.
Iskandar Puteri’s deputy also reiterated his call for the government to establish a select committee for Covid-19.
Noting that Malaysia is now among the worst Asean countries in the fight against the pandemic, Lim wondered if a different approach was needed.
“Health experts are calling for a different strategy in Malaysia’s fight against Covid-19 to avoid further strain on the public health system.
“This should be the top item on the Cabinet agenda today, and the announcement of a new strategy to control the third wave of the Covid-19 pandemic should be announced after the Cabinet meeting,” he said.
