PETALING JAYA: Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Khairy Jamaluddin says the cabinet agreed today that recent comments by two deputy ministers about Sabahan student Veveonah Mosibin were incorrect and unreasonable.

She said the cabinet met this morning and discussed the issue after Vice Minister of Finance Abdul Rahim Bakri and Vice Minister of Communications and Multimedia Zahidi Zainul Abidin accused the 18-year-old of falsifying her online exam. to get views for your video.

“The Cabinet agrees that the real problem is Internet coverage and other basic facilities, especially in rural areas.

“The government will work as hard as it can to fix this,” he said in a series of posts on Twitter.

Veveonah was thrust into the limelight after posting a video on her YouTube channel three months ago about spending 24 hours in a tree near her home to get the best internet connection to sit for her exam online.

Last week, Zahidi accused Veveonah of being a YouTuber and faking her exam online to get views for her video channel. She later apologized to Veveonah and said she had received “inaccurate information” on the matter.

However, Rahim, in a Facebook post two days ago, said that Veveonah lives in the city and that his family no longer had a house in the kampung, where he claimed to have climbed a tree to sit for the exam.

His post accusing Veveonah of deliberately creating drama to get attention and publicity caused quite a stir among netizens. This led Rahim to later delete the post.

The president of Universiti Malaysia Sabah, Masidi Manjun, has since verified that Veveonah had indeed taken his exams for the last semester via the Internet in June.
