KUALA LUMPUR: Police arrested a 45-year-old businessman for allegedly raping his daughter countless times at his home here since the beginning of this year.
Ampang Jaya Police Chief, ACP, Mohamad Farouk Eshak, said the rape incident came to light after police detained the victim at Terminal Bersepadu Selatan (TBS) on November 1.
“The teenager was actually detained for trying to leave the city, which is currently under the conditional movement control order (CMCO), without a travel permit.
“After questioning, we learned of the matter and that the victim was actually trying to escape to his mother’s house in Kedah,” he told a news conference at the Ampang Jaya district police headquarters here today.
In detailing the incident, Farouk said the victim was allegedly raped by the father every week since February.
“Due to the vile action committed by the father, the victim had tried to commit suicide by drinking liquid detergent in June. She suffers from depression and is traumatized, ”he said, adding that the girl is the daughter of a suspect from a previous marriage.
He said the girl had been in the suspect’s care since September 2019 along with his second wife and four children.
Farouk added that the suspect had a prior criminal record for rape and incest in 2004, for an attempt to impose himself on his sister-in-law at the time.
He said the suspect was arrested Nov. 2 at his home and has been in pre-trial detention ever since for investigations under Section 376B of the Penal Code for incest, which carries a prison sentence of up to 20 years and flogging upon conviction.
