KUALA LUMPUR: Bukit Aman has recorded statements by Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim on various issues, including the circulation of the list of 121 names of Members of Parliament (MP) who allegedly support him as prime minister, says CID federal director Comm Datuk Huzir Mohamed.
He said Anwar had gone to Bukit Aman on Friday (October 16) for the CID Special Investigations Unit to take a statement.
“He was questioned about the investigations into the circulation of the names of 121 parliamentarians who supported him, which was published on an online portal.
“The investigations were classified under section 505 (b) of the Penal Code and section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act for circulating statements with the intention of causing public alarm or inducing the public to commit crimes against the state and share content offensive or threatening, “he said in a statement on Saturday (October 17).
He said a total of 113 police reports have been received, including complaints from MPs who deny they support him.
“The allegations were widely circulated in the media, prompting unhealthy speculation.
“The circulation of the statement online was done with the intention of causing fear or anxiety in the public, or inducing the public to commit a crime against the state,” he said, adding that statements were also taken from Anwar on five other cases on the same day.
He said the cases investigated included the statement made alleging that the government headed by the prime minister had fallen due to the lack of majority support for Dewan Rakyat, the sodomy case and the legal statement of Aidil Azim Abu Adam and the speech in which the gambling dens were alleged to be working. during motion control command (MCO).
Comm Huzir said they also took his statement in a video of a speech alleging that 6.7 million foreigners were in Malaysia, as well as at the press conference alleging the delivery of authentic documents to the Yang di -Pertuan Agong.
Also present in Bukit Aman were his lawyer Ramkarpal Singh Deo and his political secretary Farhash Wafa Salvador Rizal Mubarak.
“The investigations were carried out in a professional manner and without any political pressure or instruction from either party,” he said, urging all parties to give the police space to conduct investigations in a fair and transparent manner.
He also warned that severe action would be taken against anyone who intentionally threatened public order and safety.
