BTOB’s Yook Sungjae has announced that he will enlist in compulsory military service this month.
On May 3, he posted the following statement on Instagram.
Hi, I’m Sungjae. First, thank you very much to all the Melodies that celebrated my birthday. (I saw all the posts, announcements and social media events!)
I didn’t know how to start saying this, so I thought about it for a long time. But since I was too far from any deep thoughts or concerns, I decided the right thing was to tell you as soon as possible.
You will be very surprised, but I have decided to enlist in the army on May 11!
There will be people who are surprised by this sudden information, as well as people who are concerned, but because of how much love I have received so far from Melodies, I am confident that I will receive love and be happy and healthy. It matters where I am! I am not worried! I can go with a comfortable mindset.
Due to the continued enlistment of BTOB members, there will inevitably be a parenthesis, but since Melodies is waiting for us, we will gain strength as we think about the day when we will meet again. There isn’t much time left, but I will definitely be communicating with Melodies through a live stream, and the other hyungs It will be out soon and “Mystic Pop-Up Bar” will be out soon, so be patient and wait. A Cube Entertainment source confirmed to News1 that Yook Sungjae would be enlisting as an active duty soldier on May 11 and that the time and place of his enlistment would not be made public.
In 2018, leader Eunkwang was the first BTOB member to enlist in the military, followed shortly by Changsub and Minhyuk. Eunkwang was discharged last month in accordance with military protocol COVID-19. In March Yook Sungjae gave up his variety show “Master in the House” and mentioned that he wanted to take time off before his military enlistment. He will be the fourth BTOB member to enlist in the military.
