Cube Entertainment has released a statement confirming that BTOB’s Ilhoon is under investigation for suspected marijuana use.
On December 21, Channel A reported that Ilhoon had been caught by the police after using marijuana. It was reported that the police were able to confirm through the testimonies of accomplices and verification of bank account activity that Ilhoon used marijuana with acquaintances several times from four to five years ago until last year.
Furthermore, the drug components are said to have been detected by a hair follicle test. The police also reportedly obtained evidence that Ilhoon purchased marijuana using cryptocurrency rather than cash to evade the police. His case is said to have been referred to the prosecution in July.
Ilhoon is currently serving his mandatory military service after enlisting in May this year, although he was originally scheduled to enlist in March. Channel A issued an additional report indicating that some are wondering if the timing of his enlistment was related to the investigation.
Ilhoon’s agency Cube Entertainment told Channel A: “We were unaware that Ilhoon had been caught using marijuana. Although his enlistment was scheduled for March, it was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. “
Later, on December 21, Cube Entertainment released the following statement:
Hi, I’m Cube Entertainment.
We consulted with Ilhoon himself about today’s report, and we confirm that he has been subpoenaed by the investigating agency and is under investigation on suspicion of smoking marijuana, as the report says.
We feel a deep sense of responsibility for having caused so many people concern. We will do whatever is required of us so that you can faithfully comply with the ongoing investigation.
Once again, we apologize for causing concern to so many people.
