BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, Oct.25 (Borneo Bulletin / ANN): Brunei marked its second day with no new Covid-19 cases and 171 days with no local broadcasts beginning Saturday night (Oct. 24).
The national count of confirmed cases in the country is 148, including seven imported cases, the government announced on Saturday.
Meanwhile, there are two active Covid-19 cases receiving treatment at the National Isolation Center in Tutong District.
The Ministry of Health (MoH) has taken 109 samples for SARS-CoV-2 virus tests during the last 24 hours, totaling 66,377 tests carried out since January 2020.
A total of 323 people are currently in mandatory self-isolation in government monitoring centers after returning from abroad, while 7,330 have completed their mandatory self-isolation in monitoring centers since March 2020.
In its breakdown of Covid-19 cases in the country, healthinfo.gov.bn revealed that there were 114 cases in the Brunei-Muara district, 28 in the Belait district and six in the Tutong district.
But on Saturday, Brunei also mourned the loss of its beloved prince.
Born on July 29, 1982, Al-Marhum His Royal Highness Prince Haji ‘Abdul’ Azim passed away on Saturday morning, Rabiulawal 7, 1442 Hegira corresponding to October 24 at 10:08 a.m., at the age of 38 .
Al-Marhum His Royal Highness Prince Haji ‘Abdul’ Azim received his initial education at the International School Brunei and further studies at the Raffles Institution, Republic of Singapore, and subsequently studied at Oxford Brookes University, UK.
While alive, Al-Marhum His Royal Highness Prince Haji ‘Abdul’ Azim received the Order of the Royal Family of the Crown of Brunei (DKMB), the Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah Medal (PHBS) and the Gold Jubilee Medal (Medal of gold).
Al-Marhum His Royal Highness Prince Haji ‘Abdul’ Azim was known as a virtuous person who was actively involved in various charities such as arts, youth and wellness, especially to help people with different disabilities and autism.
Earlier on Saturday, His Majesty the Sultan of Brunei also announced to the people and residents of Brunei, with the deepest regret, that His Royal Highness Prince Haji ‘Abdul’ Azim passed away yesterday, Rabiulawal 7, 1442 Hegira, corresponding to October 24 at 10.08 am.
