Brunei implements service charge, FCP for those crossing the Sarawak-Brunei land border

KUCHING (October 7): The Brunei Darussalam government implemented a service charge and Frequent Flyer Pass (FCP) for Brunei and Malaysian citizens and other citizens crossing the Sarawak-Brunei land border from October 1 .

In a statement issued by the Brunei Consulate through the state government, it is explained that the service charge of B $ 3 (approximately RM9.30) is charged to each individual each time they cross the land border post of Sarawak (Malaysia) and Brunei.

For Bruneians, Malays and foreigners who frequently travel at least 15 times a month for work or educational reasons, they can apply for the FCP.

This pass can be requested online through the Brunei Darussalam Department of the Prime Minister portal at www.pmo.gov.bn/travelportal.

The FCP can be applied for a period of one month, three months or six months with different payment rates.

For the one-month pass, the employee category is B $ 50 per person, while the student category is B $ 30 per person.

The three-month pass will cost B $ 150 per person for employees and B $ 90 per person for students, while the six-month pass will cost B $ 300 per person (employee category) and B $ 180 per person for the student category.

An exception to the service charge will be granted to vehicles owned by the Malaysian government or the Sarawak state government for official use; Bomb, ambulance or police cars, vehicles carrying hearses and children two years of age and under.

The special case waiver can be applied through the Malaysian High Commissioner in Brunei Darussalam.
