Brunei: 160 left Brunei for Singapore under the green lane initiative

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, Sept. 24 (Borneo Bulletin / Asian News Network): The Brunei minister in the office of Prime Minister and Minister of Finance and Economy II Dato Seri Setia, Dr. Awang Haji Mohd Amin Liew bin Abdullah, said the Friday 160 people left Brunei Darussalam for Singapore and 115 arrived from Singapore from the Reciprocal Green Lane (RGL) establishment on September 1.

“The green lane was created for essential travel. It is not for pleasure trips, ”said the minister.

“During the period of approximately three weeks since the establishment of the RGL, we have two flights to Singapore each week. On average, there are about 20 people on each flight, ”said the minister.

Travelers using the RGL will need to observe restrictions such as controlled itineraries, have a negative COVID-19 test prior to travel, and a swab test upon arrival at the destination.

Meanwhile, Brunei reported a new imported case of Covid-19 on Thursday night, bringing the national count to 146.

According to the Brunei Ministry of Health, the patient is a 29-year-old local man who arrived in Brunei on September 18 from India. The man reportedly showed no signs of infection and is currently being treated at the National Isolation Center.

The Ministry of Health has identified a total of five contacts, of which three have undergone Covid-19 smear tests and the results came back negative, while the rest are still awaiting test results. All of them are in quarantine.

This is the second confirmed case reported in Brunei this month. Brunei reported another imported case on September 3, which is a 33-year-old local man who returned from Indonesia.

Meanwhile, 428 people are currently in mandatory self-isolation in government-provided monitoring centers, who have arrived in the country after traveling abroad.

There have been three deaths from Covid-19 in Brunei and a total of 142 patients have recovered. – Xinhua
