KUALA LUMPUR: Dewan Rakyat fought loudly after Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing (GPS-Bintulu) asked if Health Director General Tan Sri Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah feared for his life from the Covid-19 pandemic .

The shouting match saw emotional reprimands from opposition MPs, and RSN Rayer (PH-Jelutong) was ousted by Vice President Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said, who was visibly outraged after the DAP lawmaker refused to listen to their calls. To sit down.

Tiong (photo) had asked why Dr. Noor Hisham did not go down in Sabah when Covid-19 cases were at their highest in the state.

“Why didn’t he go down to the ground?

“For example, in Kota Kinabalu now the situation is bad. Why didn’t you visit all the hospitals and temporary hospitals?

“They were only told to go to the doctors and nurses. They are not afraid of dying.

“But is the Director General afraid of dying? Even his deputy did not come down,” he said while debating the Supply Bill in Parliament on Wednesday (November 11).

Later, several opposition MPs stood up to protest and asked Tiong to retract his statement.

Rayer demanded that Tiong show some respect to Dr. Noor Hisham, as he was a leader in the fight against Covid-19.

“Respect the DG. Please don’t hit him. He is avant-garde. I am asking Tiong to retract his statement. Ask Bintulu to retract his statement that the CEO is afraid of dying, ”he said.

Azalina then asked Rayer to sit down so that she could make a decision on the matter.

However, Rayer refused to sit down and this eventually led to Azalina expelling him from the House.

Ramkarpal Singh (PH-Bukit Gelugor) stood up to ask if a decision had been made so that the next course of action could be taken.

To this, Azalina said that Tiong was allowed to retract her statement or give an explanation to the House.

Tiong, in response, said defiantly that he would not retract his comments, claiming that he was simply stating what the rakyat was saying.

“I didn’t curse him to death. I only ask him why he is afraid of dying ”, he argued.

Later, at a press conference held by several Pakatan MPs, Rayer described Tiong’s statements as undermining and insulting Dr. Noor Hisham, whom he described as the main leader in the fight against Covid-19.

“I am disappointed and perplexed why Azalina did not demand a retraction and an apology when she heard Tiong utter those words numerous times,” he said.

“Once again, I ask Tiong to apologize to Dr. Noor Hisham and everyone in front,” he added.
