KLANG: The bakery company Massimo Bread has announced that its operations here have suffered a temporary interruption due to the large number of Covid-19 cases in Klang.

In a statement posted on its Facebook page, the baker’s holding company, Italian Baker Sdn Bhd, said the outage was due to initiatives to strengthen security measures.

“There has been some temporary disruption to our operations in our effort to implement additional precautionary and preventive measures in accordance with Klang City Council procedures to mitigate the risk of infection at our plant,” the statement said.

It added that the health and well-being of its consumers and employees were of the utmost importance.

“Therefore, we have imposed strict protocols and procedures and have taken all necessary measures to enforce standard operating procedures in support and cooperation with the various authorities, such as the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Industry and International Trade, the Council Homeland Security, Occupational Safety and Health Department and local authorities, “the statement said.

The statement added that while it was aware that the disruption negatively affected its business partners and upset consumers, the move was necessary due to its efforts to prevent and mitigate the risk of Covid-19 infection.

Klang is one of the Selangor districts with the highest number of Covid-19 cases due to the appearance of community broadcasts.
