Boustead appoints Khaled Nordin as non-executive president

Boustead Holdings Bhd (Boustead) appointed Mohamed Khaled Nordin as the company’s non-independent, non-executive chairman, effective May 1, 2020.

In a statement today, Boustead said that Mohamed Khaled had previously served as Johor Menteri Besar from 2013 to 2018 and under his leadership, the state had witnessed steady growth in its economy.

He also served as president of Johor Corporation Bhd and the group had successfully implemented several restructuring and recovery exercises during his tenure, he said.

Before his tenure as Johor Menteri Besar, Mohamed Khaled held positions in various ministries, including the Minister of Higher Education (2008 to 2013), the Minister of Business and Cooperative Development (2004 to 2008), and the Deputy Minister of Works (1990 to 2004) ). )

He said that Mohamed Khaled, who holds a Bachelor of Laws (with honors) from the University of Malaya, is nominated as the largest shareholder in Boustead, the Board of the Armed Forces Fund (LTAT).

Boustead Managing Director Amrin Awaluddin said Mohamed Khaled’s vast experience would certainly strengthen the board, guiding Boustead to improve its way of doing business and increase its long-term prospects.

“We are confident that the group is in very good hands under its proven leadership,” he added.
