PUNCTUATION: Barisan Nasional (BN) is open to accept any party that wishes to join the coalition, said its vice president Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan (pix).

However, he said that a consensus will be reached among its four component parts, UMNO, MIC, MCA and Parti Bersatu Rakyat Sabah (PBRS), before approval is given.

“We (BN) must be inclusive and no longer exclusive. So if you ask me for my personal opinion, the more parties under the BN umbrella the better because each has its own strengths and, combined, they will provide additional synergy.

“This is what we have to do for BN to build new forces because BN lost in the 14th general election (GE14). Whatever BN stands for and its policies, there must be a review so that its two directions that are strengthening the coalition and the strategies to win GE15 can be realized, ”he said.

He told reporters after opening the 12th annual general meeting of Parti Makkal Sakti Malaysia (Makkal Sakti), which was also attended by its chairman Datuk Seri RS Thanenthiran, here today.

Commenting on Thanenthiran’s request today for the party to compete in BN tickets in three parliamentary and seven state seats in GE15, Mohamad, who is also vice president of UMNO, said that Makkal Sakti should be seen as a loyal friend. of BN during good times and hard even though its status was not that of a component.

“Makkal Sakti is a partner of BN and not a component, but it should be noted because Makkal Sakti has been helping BN for a long time, whether it was a government or no longer a government. I am sure that the top BN leadership council can consider this request from Makkal Sakti.

“There are other partners who have stated the same, I am of the opinion that more parties with BN, more inclusive it will be, but I leave it to the wisdom of the main leaders of BN … it should be considered,” he said.

Earlier, in his speech, Thanenthiran had asked BN to give Makkal Sakti the opportunity to contest seats in GE15.

“This is our hope and we are ready. If not GE15, then when? “, Said.

The AGM which was attended by 753 delegates adopted three resolutions which were that Makkal Sakti become a component party of BN, compete under the BN umbrella in GE15 and on the welfare of the Indian community in Sabah. – Called
