PETALIZING JAYA: The editor of Blu Inc Media Sdn Bhd magazine, the company behind well-known home magazines like CLEO, Cosmopolitan, Her World, EH! and Woman, has closed as of today (April 30).
In a letter to employees sighted by TheSun, CEO Datin Azliza Tajuddin explained that the business has already been under tremendous challenge from digital disruption in recent years.
While it has made more and more investments to develop its digital capabilities, it is unclear whether Blu Inc Media has gained enough traction as losses continue to rise, he said.
“With the current Movement Control Order to contain Covid-19, the losses continued even more during the months of March and April, and this trend is expected to continue for the next few months. It is uncertain if we can see any light at the end of the tunnel, ”he said, adding that the decision was made by the board of directors with a big heart.
Azliza has appointed Jolston Ng and Faizal Hadi as general managers, along with Shireen Goh, Bowen Tee and Connie Lee from the accounts department, as well as Habibah Muhammad from the human resources team to help with “the unfortunate and painful process.”
All employees, except for these few people, will be contacted separately regarding their employment status soon.
“We appreciate your service to Blue Inc Media and wish you all the best in your future endeavors,” he said in the letter.
