PETALING JAYA: A Baskin-Robbins’ 1 Utama employee tested positive for Covid-19.

In a statement, Baskin-Robbins Malaysia said the team member had last worked at the store on October 22 and, upon reporting symptoms, was immediately discharged from work and quarantined.

He said the individual was currently being treated at a government hospital.

Upon detection of the positive case, he said that his store was immediately closed for disinfection and that all exposed food and packaging had also been discarded.

“All colleagues who were in close contact with the affected team member are in self-quarantine and are currently being evaluated.

“A separate new kit will be deployed to the store only after testing negative,” he said on Sunday (Oct 25).

Baskin-Robbins Malaysia added that it has taken additional precautionary measures in which all individual colleagues who were in contact with the secondary contact have been identified and ordered to stay home while they await their results.

“Among them, those most at risk are taking the test proactively, fully funded by the company,” he said.

Baskin-Robbins Malaysia said it was fully committed to protecting its staff and customers “at all costs.”

“We believe that our emphasis on the importance of team members reporting their illness and not going to work if they are unwell has allowed us to further stop the spread. We will continue to enforce our strict food safety and hygiene standards and perform our paper to keep our community safe, “it read.

He added that the Ministry of Health can contact those who visited the store from October 18 to 22.
