KUALA LUMPUR (Feb 19): The share price of AwanBiru Technology Bhd (formerly known as Prestariang Bhd) continued its rise today, thanks to news that its Prestariang Systems Sdn Bhd unit is among the three companies designated to manage cloud services for government. .
At 11:50 am, the company’s share price was trading at RM1.12, its highest level since September last year, an increase of six sen or 5.7%. Some 40 million shares had changed hands.
Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin announced this morning that AwanBiru’s Prestariang Systems unit, together with Enfrasys Solution Sdn Bhd and Cloud Connect Sdn Bhd, will manage the services provided by cloud service providers (CSPs) including Microsoft, Google , Amazon, and Telekom Malaysia Bhd (TM), which had received conditional approvals from the government.
Under MyDigital’s plan, the Cloud First strategy aims to have 80% of public data migrated to a hybrid cloud system by the end of 2022.
The move is expected to result in lower cost to the government in terms of IT management, data collection efficiency and management.
AwanBiru’s share price has been on a steady rise since December from around the 40 sen level, and more than double the 47 sen level on November 30.
