Autopsy showed no signs of fighting, Cradle Fund CEO murder trial said

SHAH ALAM: The Supreme Court was told today that there were no signs of fighting or defensive wounds on the body of Cradle Fund Executive Director Nazrin Hassan when the first autopsy was performed at the Kuala Lumpur Hospital (HKL).

Sergeant Abdul Rahim Taha, 59, said that HKL pathologist Dr. Siew Sheue Feng, who performed the autopsy, informed him of this when the latter’s statement was taken.

“On June 14, 2018, I was instructed to bring the body of a fire victim (Nazrin) to HKL by the investigating officer of the Commercial Crime Investigation Department, Petaling Jaya District Police Headquarters, Insp Anesstassia Chin Fat for autopsy and classify the case as sudden death.

“At approximately 8 pm, after the autopsy was completed, I was instructed to record Dr. Siew’s statement,” he said in his witness statement read before Judge Ab Karim Ab Rahman.

The 33rd witness for the prosecution said Siew told him there were burn marks on the victim’s face, chest, abdomen and both hands.

“Dr. Siew also said there were penetrating injuries to the head, face, neck, chest, and left skull, as well as injuries to brain tissue.

“Dr. Siew also said that the deceased’s lungs collapsed due to the explosion,” said Abdul Rahim, who has been working at Damansara Police Station, Petaling Jaya, since 1999.

It added that Siew concluded that the victim died from a complication of an explosion, as there were no traces of metal or bullet debris on the body.

“I then presented the test report to my superior ASP Mohd Iqbal Mohammad, who ordered that an investigative document be opened,” he said.

On March 12, 2019, Samirah Muzaffar, 45, a former top executive of the Malaysian Intellectual Property Corporation, who was also Nazrin’s wife, and two teenagers, aged 17 and 14, respectively, were charged. along with a still-grown Indonesian, Eka Wahyu Lestari, with killing Nazrin.

They were accused of committing the act in a house in Mutiara Damansara between 11:30 p.m. on June 13, 2018 and 4 a.m. on June 14, 2018.

The trial continues tomorrow.
