Liverpool were defeated in the Community Shield by Arsenal last night, losing to the FA Cup winners on a penalty shoot-out with the game locked at 1-1.
The Gunners outscored the Premier League champions by laying down perfect five-inch shots, with Rhian Brewster watching their effort off the crossbar.
After the final whistle, as Arsenal received their cutlery, Liverpool team and staff watched and applauded the winners.
This did not go unnoticed by fans on social media, with @ArsenalAtHeartt tweeting a photo of our guys and a photo of Chelsea watching the Gunners lift the FA Cup.
Compare the two. That is why Liverpool is champion. Class club. pic.twitter.com/lRXTeMyzZc

MORE: Liverpool fans say the same after Brewster misses a costly penalty
While no one expects a team to celebrate another club having won a trophy at their expense, sportsmanship costs nothing, our guys are a credit to us.
It was a well-deserved result for Arsenal last night, with Liverpool not looking as usual for most of the game, with no creativity in the middle of the park.
Trent Alexander-Arnold and captain Jordan Henderson were notable absences for the Reds, and the winger left a huge gap in our team.
Arsenal took the lead early on when Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang jumped past young Neco Williams to fire a shot across Alisson’s goal.
The second half was much better for Liverpool, with the introduction of Naby Keita and Takumi Minamino bringing the rest of the team to life.
