The three men were previously detained for 21 days beginning on October 11.

KUALA LUMPUR: The period of pretrial detention for a Datuk and two police officers who are being investigated under the Crime Prevention Act 1959 (Poca) in relation to an online gambling union and scam activities in Macau is today extended another 38 days by the Magistrates Court here.

Magistrate M Mageswary allowed the police request to extend the period of preventive detention against the three men, aged 34 to 39 years, from today. They were previously in pre-trial detention under Poca for 21 days starting on October 11.

Attorney Jacky Loi, when contacted by Bernama, confirmed that the men were in pretrial detention in accordance with Section 4 (2) (a) of Poca. They also represented the men Gobind Singh Deo and Shahrizal Abdul Manan.

On October 13, the head of the Kuala Lumpur CID, Nik Ros Azhan Abd Hamid, said that the police had re-arrested the three people after the court rejected a pretrial detention order applied by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission ( MACC) against them for their alleged involvement in online gambling activities.

He said they were arrested again immediately after being released by the MACC.
