KUALA LUMPUR: Sepanggar MP Datuk Mohd Azis Jamman has questioned the Health Ministry on his sandals on the Covid-19 standard operating procedure for MPs.

This was after Keningau MP Datuk Dr Jeffrey Kitingan’s (Photo) The quarantine status was questioned in Parliament on Tuesday (November 24).

Azis noted that MPs who attended the current meeting were asked to observe a 14-day quarantine if they had traveled to Sabah on the advice of the Ministry of Health and the National Security Council.

“Because of that decision, I even skipped a family member’s funeral in Semporna recently.

“The right person for us to ask is the Director General of Health. Why was this policy suddenly changed?

“Are government deputies immune to Covid-19? Covid-19 does not take into account whether the deputy is with the government or with the opposition.

“Covid-19 does not care if the deputy supported the prime minister or any party,” he said at a press conference in Parliament on Tuesday.

Azis also noted that Jeffrey was seen in Kota Kinabalu on November 13 and said that even if the self-quarantine had begun as of November 12, only 12 days would have passed.

“That did not meet the 14-day requirement for MPs returning from Sabah to attend Parliament.

“We also hope that DG Health will explain it later. We don’t want double standards of the rules on parliamentarians, ”he said, adding that the recent emergency declaration in Batu Sapi was a clear sign that Covid-19 cases were still serious in Sabah.

Azis also said that spokesman Datuk Azhar Azizan Harun had asked for more time to consult with health authorities on the matter.

Azhar had also ordered Jeffery to temporarily leave the Dewan Rakyat until an explanation for his quarantine status could be determined.

Azhar had said that he understood that Jeffery had started his quarantine on November 12 and received his release order from the Health Ministry on Monday (November 23).
