Mohamed Azmin Ali said that he decided to leave PKR because he thought that Anwar Ibrahim was not qualified to lead the party or become the next prime minister.

PETALING JAYA: Former PKR Vice President Mohamed Azmin Ali has claimed that Anwar Ibrahim’s sexual conduct was one of the reasons that led him to leave the party to join the PPBM.

Azmin made his claim in response to a lawsuit filed by voters in his constituency of Gombak, and said that he will “present evidence that has never been made public during the trial” when the lawsuit is heard.

Gombak voters alleged that Azmin had breached his fiduciary duties by going from a party to PPBM and causing the fall of the Pakatan Harapan government in February last year.

Azmin said his decision to leave the party was made after concluding that Anwar was not qualified to lead the PKR or become the next prime minister.

He cited a series of strong accusations made against Anwar about his sexual practices that, as a Muslim, were immoral.

Azmin said that two people, Mohammed Yusoff Rawther and Aidil Azim Abu Adam, had declared that they were victims of Anwar’s immoral acts. “Allegations of sexual misconduct have been made against Anwar since he returned to lead PKR,” Azmin said.

Anwar had denied the allegations of sexual misconduct, while Aidil Azim has since claimed that he was manipulated into making the accusations against Anwar.

Azmin also said that Anwar had created differences between the PH leaders because he constantly pressured the leaders to make him prime minister as soon as possible.

“I could no longer stay with PKR and PH because there are differences between us on PM’s position and this cannot be resolved amicably,” he said, adding that he had stood firm at that time that Dr. Mahathir Mohamad should continue to run Malaysia.

Azmin also said that PH had been “unstable” after Anwar was released from prison in 2018 and rejoined politics after the coalition took power.

“Since then he has shown his true colors, which was his desire to become prime minister, and not push for the ‘reformasi’ agenda that he has been preaching all along,” he added.

Azmin also claimed that the clemency, granted to Anwar after May 9, 2018, was “flawed” as there were not enough members on the Board of Pardons of the Federal Territories to hear the statement.

Azmin added that he will call Yusoff and Aidil Azim to testify for him when the case goes to trial. “I will also present evidence that was never publicly known during the trial,” he said.

The lawsuit against Azmin was filed by 10 voters seeking a statement that Azmin owes them a fiduciary duty as an elected representative. They also want a statement that Azmin cheated and violated his oath to protect, preserve and defend the Constitution.

In their statement of claim, voters said that Azmin caused the collapse of the PH government in February 2020 by joining PN, which included Barisan Nasional and individuals Azmin himself had acknowledged were “credibly accused of corrupt practices. “.
