Anwar says he will have an audience with King on Tuesday

KUALA LUMPUR: Opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim (pix) He said that Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah has agreed to grant him a hearing on Tuesday.

Anwar, who is also chairman of PKR, said he would submit to His Majesty a full statement on the majority parliamentary support that Anwar claimed to have previously obtained.

He said that he was grateful to Allah that the Yang di-Pertuan Agong has recovered from his recent illness.

“In this regard, I would like to thank His Majesty for agreeing to grant me a hearing on Tuesday, October 13, 2020,” he said today in a statement.

Anwar also urged people to remain calm and comply with the Recovery Movement Control Order (RMCO).

At a press conference on September 23, Anwar claimed that he had secured “strong and convincing” support from the majority of members of Parliament to form a new government.

Anwar had said that the Yang di-Pertuan Agong had agreed to grant him an audience at the time, but it had to be postponed after His Majesty was admitted to the National Heart Institute for treatment. – Called
