PETALING JAYA: A Bandaraya LRT station worker tested positive for Covid-19 and is currently being treated at Sungai Buloh Hospital, says Prasarana Malaysia Bhd.
The employee was last on duty on December 19 and has been absent since.
“According to our investigation, the case occurred within a closed area and the station officer had no contact with the passengers while on duty,” Prasarana said in a statement on Saturday (December 26).
He said that management has taken more steps by disinfecting the employee’s work station in accordance with the Ministry of Health guidelines.
“Other employees who had close contact with the station officer were also instructed to undergo 14-day screening and self-quarantine tests as prescribed by the ministry,” he added.
Prasarana assured customers that its trains are always disinfected daily during peak hours and after operations at the end of the day.
“Prasarana management and staff, particularly at Rapid Rail and Rapid Bus, have been trained to practice the highest standards and protocols for Covid-19 hygiene and sanitation,” he added.
The public is also encouraged to always follow standard operating procedures while using Rapid Rail services.
On December 16, two employees working on the Kelana Jaya line also tested positive for Covid-19.
