It seems that many are choosing to stay away from 1 Utama Mall for now.
This morning, Chinese publications Sin Chew Daily and China Press reported that another case of Covid-19 was confirmed at the mall.
This time, the employee who tested positive for the deadly virus works at Parkson. According to the company, the Parkson Elite 1 Utama store will be closed until further notice. Sin Chew Daily received confirmation directly from Parkson regarding the new Covid-19 case.

Just a few minutes ago, 1 Utama Shopping Mall issued the following statement:
“1 Utama is currently working closely with Parkson to provide them with our full support in this case, which has been taken care of immediately since receiving confirmation of positive Covid-19 test results from Estee Lauder staff. Parkson has taken swift action to conduct a comprehensive disinfection exercise, with store personnel undergoing testing and a 14-day quarantine. The follow-up of contacts will be carried out by the Ministry of Health.. “
“We wish to note that affected staff access to Parkson was through the dedicated Parkson staff entrance / exit, which is not open to the public. Rest assured, our entire mall building has been sanitized as well, with 1 front-line Utama members working very hard all hours of the day to keep the mall clean and step up in any way we can..
“Thank you for your continued support during this challenging period. It means a lot to us! It has been a great week for us here at 1 Utama. Yet we remain positive … that the pandemic that has hit the world and Malaysia unites us all once again. This is a time not for hatred but for more compassion and kindness. Saying a little prayer to those who are recovering will go a long way.. “
