PETALING JAYA: This weekend’s Umno general assembly is the best way for members to resolve party-related issues, including finding out once and for all whether there will be a pact with PKR in the next general election.
Ketereh MP Tan Sri Annuar Musa said that there has been a lot of confusion on the matter and that party chairman Datuk Seri, Dr. Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, should take the opportunity to clear things up at the event.
“There has been talk that the president has been arguing with Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, but others have dismissed them. On the PKR’s side, Anwar said there was a meeting but no ties.
“Even (PKR general secretary) Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail has described it as an informal meeting, so Zahid had better clarify the matter at the general assembly,” he said after a ceremony to hand over the keys at Residensi RazakMas. 2 to 395 former residents of the Seri Labuan Public Housing flats.
The Federal Territories minister said this when asked to comment on Ahmad Zahid’s refusal to negotiate a pact with PKR in the upcoming general elections.
In an interview with The Star published on Wednesday (March 24), Ahmad Zahid has said that there have been no formal or informal discussions between him and the opposition leader on the matter.
He said the matter had also not come up in discussions between Anwar and Umno’s vice president, Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan.
