Google in a blog post earlier today confirmed that the company is indeed making way for more downloadable third-party app stores via Android 12 next year. At the same time, the company simultaneously ensures that Google Play users will continue to enjoy a safe and secure experience.

The decision to enable alternative app stores comes after Google received numerous comments from other app developers who suggested to the company how they can create a better user experience by allowing additional app stores to download. Of which Google obviously agreed with the suggestion.
In addition to the company adding more app stores in the future, Google has also mentioned that the feature here is currently in its design phase. With that said, know that you can only get access to more downloadable app stores after the company releases Android 12 on supported devices the following year.
For now, Android platforms usually come pre-installed with at least two ready-to-use app stores, namely the popular Google Play Store and the Samsung Galaxy Store. However, there are usually notable limitations in terms of downloadable content if other app stores are used because most developers choose to have their apps only available through the Play Store.
All in all, Google’s implementation of allowing additional app store downloads will provide more options for all of its users after the release of Android 12 next year. That is, of course, if they still find insufficient apps within the already pre-installed app stores.
