PETALING JAYA: One Utama has confirmed that a member of staff from the Mac City Service Center at the mall has tested positive for Covid-19.

The staff member, who has not entered the mall since September 30, had been admitted to a government hospital.

“This is the first isolated case to occur in 1 Utama since the Covid outbreak this year, and we are honestly quite devastated to receive the news despite our best efforts to keep Covid out.

“However, after months of preparation, we are now in a good position to respond to this emergency. With full transparency, we regard this as our top priority to provide timely and accurate information to you, the public, our buyers, tenants and suppliers through this notice, ”said One Utama in a statement on its Facebook page on Monday (5 October). .

He added that in light of the development, the first mitigation steps and public safety measures have been swiftly activated to limit any potential risks as soon as they have been informed of the situation.

They said the service center has been closed with deep cleaning carried out, while all co-workers of the affected staff have already been placed under strict quarantine.

One Utama said it has done a complete sanitation that includes the air handling units (AHUs), public areas, toilets, elevators, escalators, bathrooms, baby room, facilities at the rear of the house and all other heavy touch points.

He added that they were conducting contact tracing through CCTV recordings and checking the QR records of affected personnel.

“Public health safety is a collective responsibility and we will need our tenants and buyers to continue to take good care of their well-being to keep our shopping center safe,” he said.
