KUALA LUMPUR: A community organization, Pertubuhan Pengerak Community Negara Malaysia (PKN) has filed a police report against Perak DAP youth leader Steven Chaw for his allegations that the organization received a government allocation of RM8.6 million.
PKN President Nor Hizwan Ahmad said the report was made after an article on a media portal quoting Chaw as saying the organization had allegedly received the fund and that each committee member would receive RM780,000.
“I vehemently deny the claims. I believe that the same slander and lies have circulated on many social networks (sites) seeking to tarnish our reputation. I suspect that the action was perpetrated after Dewan Rakyat’s speech by the head of the opposition (Anwar Ibrahim) linking the funds with PKN.
“It was then used as political capital by the opposition to tarnish the effort of PKN, as an NGO, to help society,” he said after filing a police report at the Wangsa Maju district police headquarters here.
Wangsa Maju District Police Chief Rajab Ahad Ismail, when contacted by Bernama, confirmed receiving the report.
