KUALA LUMPUR, December 8 – An Italian enraged by an argument with his wife went out to cool off, but ended up walking 450 km.

The anonymous 48-year-old man from the northern Swiss border city of Como allegedly walked for a week in an attempt to quell his anger after he had a fight with his wife.

The man’s cooling trip ended in Fano, a small town on the Adriatic coast some 450 km to the south after few police officers arrested him at 2 a.m. for violating Italy’s curfew rules due to the situation of the Covid-19 outbreak in the country.

According to IndependentThe police officers who picked up the man did not believe he could have walked that far.

However, after a quick review, they realized that his wife had reported him as a missing person on Como a week earlier.

Police fined the man 400 euros (RM1974) for violating curfew rules before calling his wife to look for him.

According to Italian media reports, the man was cold and tired, but admitted that he had not realized how far he had come during his long walk to clear his mind.

BBC quoted the man as telling police: “I came here on foot, I did not use any means of transport.

“Along the way, I met people who offered me food and drink.”

The couple were reportedly reunited after the man’s wife came to Fano to look for him.

She was then handed her husband’s overnight hotel bill in Fano along with the police fine.
