Officers were left with minor cuts and bruises after fighting to arrest the man.

KUALA LUMPUR: A man in Damansara Damai was arrested today for assaulting two policemen by throwing dishes at them and also waving a knife and hammer at them.

Petaling Jaya District Police Chief Nik Ezanee Mohd Faisal said police received a report of someone who was going insane at one of the houses in the area at 2 a.m.

“The policemen called the occupant of the house, but the man suddenly acted aggressively by throwing dishes in his direction.

“A policeman suffered a cut on his elbow. The 48-year-old man was also waving a knife and a hammer at the two policemen, ”he said in a statement today, adding that they were left with minor cuts and bruises after fighting to arrest the man.

Nik Ezanee said subsequent investigations found the man had more than five previous criminal and drug case records.

The man was in preventive detention for four days.

In another case, police arrested a man for suspicious driving along Federal Highway exiting onto Sprint Highway at 3:20 am today.

“The vehicle was ordered to stop for an inspection where the police ordered the suspect to sit in the passenger seat, but he refused and uttered foul language,” said Nik Ezanee.

He added that the driver was in preventive detention for four days.
