PETALING JAYA: Amanah Vice President Salahuddin Ayub said today that the party was not set up to be a walaun (fanatic follower) of anyone.
“I know that Amanah leaders are the most committed to Pakatan Harapan (PH). But we don’t want to be anyone’s walaun.
“However, I am not (the president of Amanah) Mohamad Sabu. We are not the walaun of Tun (Dr. Mahathir Mohamad) and (PKR president) Anwar Ibrahim, ”he said at the Amanah youth convention in Melaka.
He also tried to assure everyone that there was no intention of putting Anwar aside. This comes amid speculation that Anwar could be forced to resign as leader of the opposition.
“We have no intention of marginalizing Anwar, as we have recently been accused of. This is our official party position, ”he said.
Salahuddin said the party’s current goal was to replace the Perikatan Nasional government, which it described as an “unworthy government.”
He urged PH to stand firm and topple the “backdoor government that betrayed the mandate of the people.”
