AMAD DIALLO’s transfer to Manchester United could be delayed as Atalanta hopes to retain him until the end of the season.
The teenager agreed to join the Red Devils for £ 37 million on the day of the October deadline, and was set to join Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side this month.
However, the Serie A team is trying to hold on to its star for a few more months.
Atalanta coach Gian Piero Gasperini said: “There is an internal solution that could be very interesting, which is Amad Diallo.
“Clearly Manchester United owns it, but it could stay with us for a few more months.
“I like him a lot, he is only 18 years old and I would like him to stay until June, but obviously it depends on his club.”
Diallo, 18, was hired with the intention of being put on United’s under-23 development side, like his compatriot Facundo Pellistri.
But at Atalanta, he is involved in shaping the first team, although he has played just 35 minutes in his two appearances this season.
Red Devils boss Solskjaer spoke about Diallo’s arrival after the 2-1 win over Aston Villa on New Year’s Day, confirming the paperwork is in order.
He said: “Amad, we have had all the paperwork, I do not see any obstacles. I hope you will be with us very soon.”
“I am very excited to bring him, I think he has shown his qualities a few times.
“Of course he has to learn to play in England, that’s a different level of football.
“We will give him time to develop and express himself.”
