If you’ve been here when Makro became Tesco and Tesco became Lotuss, it’s time to recognize that you are getting old!

With ntv7 ceasing its broadcast and now with the name change of Tesco Malaysia, it is truly the end of an era. In recent days, Malaysians have noticed something different in the Tesco stores they visited with a rebranding notice.

Even those using MySejahtera pointed out that the store’s name has changed when they signed up. To clear up all doubts, Tesco Malaysia issued a statement yesterday clarifying that they will change their names to Lotuss Stores (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd.

“We look forward to our new brand. One thing is for sure, we will continue to encourage you with services, offers and goods that remain the best. “

Even on the Tesco Malaysia Facebook page, the About section indicates that Lotuss Stores Malaysia Sdn. Bhd (formerly known as Tesco Stores (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd.) Has been a member of Charoen Pokphand Group Co., Ltd (CP Group) since December 2020.

According to The Edge Markets, in April 2020, Tesco and CP Group of Thailand signed in March to sell Tesco’s business in Thailand and Malaysia to CP Group for an enterprise value of US $ 10.6 billion (RM43.15 billion). As of now, you are still not sure if Tesco products will remain in stores. World of Buzz has contacted Tesco Malaysia for a statement.

Malaysians on Twitter expressed their sadness and how Tesco will always be in their hearts. They also expected the product providers to remain the same due to their high quality.
