KUALA LUMPURA 38-year-old firefighter on drugs was arrested Saturday for allegedly stealing a car belonging to a mechanic.
The 17-year-old mechanic, who had parked his car at Jalan Pandan Indah 4/2 on Friday, found the missing vehicle around 10 a.m.
Ampang Jaya Police Chief, ACP, Mohamad Farouk Esha, said at 3.20am on Saturday, a police task force spotted the car near where it disappeared and arrested the driver, who turned out to be a KL firefighter.
The suspect, who has two records for drug-related crimes, was also found in possession of a drug package.
Mohamad Farouk said a urine test on the man came back positive for drug abuse.
In PETALING JAYA, police arrested three Bangladeshi men on Tuesday for unjustly confining and extorting a compatriot.
Petaling Jaya, ACP Police Chief Nik Ezanee Mohd Faisal said a 35-year-old Bangladeshi man filed a police report around 4 pm Tuesday, alerting police to the plight of the victim.
He said the captors had demanded RM30,000.
Nik Ezanee said a police team then carried out two raids on an apartment in Jalan Tropicana Selatan and Mutiara Damansara before rescuing the victim and arresting his three captors, ages 33 to 46. Initial investigations showed that one of the suspects operated a sundries store and the victim was his worker.
“The suspect had not paid the victim his salary, but accused the victim of stealing money from the store.
Along with two other accomplices, the suspect kidnapped the victim and demanded the cash for his release, ”said Nik Ezanee.
