KOTA KINABALU: The smile is back on the face of Veveonah Mosibin, a student at the Universiti Malaysia Sabah.

The teenager, who became a social media sensation when she climbed a tree to go online and prepare for her exams online, had had a rough week when two deputy ministers rated her act.

But yesterday, Veveonah shared a photo of her smiling alongside Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.

“Stay awesome! It was a great honor for me and my parents to be invited to dinner with Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, the eighth Prime Minister of Malaysia,” he posted.

On Saturday, she was seen in another happy image of herself with the Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, Khairy Jamaluddin.

Veveonah thanked him for visiting his family.

Veveonah, 18, made headlines when she posted a video titled “24 Hours in the Tree” to demonstrate how she prepared for her exams on top of a langsat tree. It has logged about 814.00 visits so far.

But a deputy minister told Dewan Negara on September 3 that he had been informed that there was no online test and that the girl from the inner Pitas district of Sabah had simply made the YouTube video for entertainment.

He has since apologized for his comments.

Another deputy minister who had also questioned Veveonah’s act subsequently deleted his Facebook post on the matter.
