PETALING JAYA: The Ministry of Education has announced that all schools, including vocational universities, under the Ministry of Education will be closed from November 9 until the last day of the school year on December 17 and 18.
Education Minister Radzi Jidin said the decision was made following the conditional movement control order (CMCO) applied in all states on the peninsula except Kelantan, Pahang and Perlis.
All classes are expected to continue online or through home learning.
“All school administrations must ensure that teachers and students carry out teaching and learning at home. During this period, teachers must also remain in their respective jobs, ”Radzi said at a press conference today.
He also asked parents to take their children home from their shelters, adding that they can get a consent letter from the school to travel between states.
Meanwhile, the students will be under the care of the guardians, and the school will provide them with food and water.
Radzi said that all elementary students must resume face-to-face classes on January 20 next year, as previously scheduled. The same is true for Form One, Four, Five, and Six, as well as vocational college students.
All Form Two and Three students will also begin the new school term on the same date, but through online learning. They will only be allowed to resume classes in person on March 8 of the next year.
“These rules also apply to private schools and any educational institution registered under the ministry. Schools that are not registered with the ministry are also advised to follow this decision. “
He added that the evaluation system for the admission of Form One and Form Four students to special schools will also be postponed until further notice.
Meanwhile, all enrollment program students and teacher training institutes will continue to learn online until December 31st.
Radzi said that students under enrollment programs can return to their respective universities on January 4 next year, while students from teacher training institutes will resume classes on campus on January 17, 2021.
