PETALING JAYA: All Sabah legislators will be required to observe a 14-day self-quarantine period before the third meeting of the Dewan Rakyat on November 2.

Sabah MPs will need to arrive in Kuala Lumpur before October 17 to allow them to attend Parliament, according to a letter signed by Dewan Rakyat’s secretary, Nizam Mydin Bacha Mydin.

Nizam said that all MPs arriving from Sabah will undergo mandatory Covid-19 screening at the airport and will be issued a two-week home surveillance order (HSO) at their own residence in Kuala Lumpur or at a hotel. approved by the National Agency for Disaster Management (Nadma).

“On the 13th, a second RTK test should be performed at any government health center or private clinic and a copy of the test results should be kept. If the results are positive, the MP will be referred to a hospital for further treatment. ”Nizam said.

He added that if the results were negative, the MP would have to take the test results to the nearest health district office to obtain a quarantine release order and the surveillance bracelet would be removed.

When contacted, several Sabah MPs confirmed that they had received the letter that also said that lawmakers must undergo the same process again if they are to return to Sabah during the parliament session and then return to Kuala Lumpur.

As for those who are from areas that are currently under an enhanced or conditional motion control order (MCO), they must obtain a special permit to travel from the state Covid-19 disaster management committee.

“The quarantine order will be subject to change following the latest developments announced by the government,” Nizam said.
