PUTRAJAYA: International students, with the exception of UK students, will be able to return to campus as of January 1, 2021, says Chief Minister (Security) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

He said that the National Security Council accepted a proposal from the Higher Education Ministry for international students to be physically present on campuses for the 2021 session.

“This permit, however, excludes UK students,” he said on Tuesday (December 22).

The permit covers, among others, students who have been accepted into public and private institutes of higher education and have permanent accommodation here in Malaysia.

Standard operating procedure will apply which requires them to undergo a Covid-19 smear test and quarantine upon arrival in the country.

Students must undergo a Covid-19 test three days before departing for Malaysia and once again upon arrival.

Ismail Sabri said that the cost of the screening will be borne by the students.

He said that soon the Ministry of Higher Education will announce a detailed POE.
