Alien arrested for making false police report

KUALA LUMPUR: An Uzbekistan citizen who claimed to have lost RM8,000 to police extortionists was arrested on Saturday after it was discovered that he had submitted a false police report.

Brickfields, ACP Police Chief Anuar Omar said today that the 37-year-old foreigner had made the allegations in a police report Thursday.

He said the man who works as a craftsman in Shah Alam claimed that the police patrols took the cash from him on a road shoulder at Jalan Solaris 1, Solaris Mont Kiara here.

Anuar said an investigation was carried out and when the foreigner’s statements were found to be inconsistent, police conducted a raid on a premises in Jalan Selangor, opposite Jalan Travers on Saturday, where several bank cards, bank receipts and cellphones.

“The foreigner claimed that he had withdrawn the cash from a bank on February 21, but we discovered that he did not carry out any such transaction. Later, the man admitted that he had filed a false police report after losing the cash. He wanted to win the sympathy of his employer, who had lent him the cash in the hope of getting another loan from him: Anuar said.

He said the case will be referred to the Attorney General’s Office (AGC) with recommendations that the suspect faces charges for filing a false police report and other crimes related to immigration laws.

Anuar advised the public to refrain from submitting false police reports or making false statements to the police, as it is a crime to do so. Called
