KUALA LUMPUR: AirAsia Bhd has restructured the group’s engineering units in its operating airlines into a centralized maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) subsidiary: Asia Digital Engineering Sdn Bhd (ADE).

The company told Bursa Malaysia today that it has appointed Mahesh Kumar Jaya Kumar, the group’s head of fleet management and technical assets, as CEO of ADE.

“ADE has successfully obtained approval from the Aircraft Maintenance Organization (AMO) of the Malaysian Civil Aviation Authority (CAAM) to commence operation from September 9,” AirAsia said.

As an independent wholly-owned subsidiary, ADE will focus on business for AirAsia group airlines and other airlines in the region.

It will focus on key services such as line maintenance, workshop, engineering support, components and warehouse, as well as digital and innovation.

“ADE will embark on the Industry 4.0 digital transformation journey, embracing the future by leveraging the latest technologies in automation, big data analytics, predictive maintenance, machine learning and artificial intelligence to effectively reduce maintenance costs and increase productivity and efficiency while maintaining a high level of fleet safety, quality and airworthiness, ”said AirAsia.

“ADE will be an avenue for additional revenue that will contribute to AirAsia’s overall revenue growth,” he added.
