KUALA LUMPUR: Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah (pix) today expressed his gratitude to all members of Parliament (MP) for providing their support to approve the 2021 budget in the political stage of Dewan Rakyat today.

The Comptroller of the Royal House of Istana Negara Datuk Ahmad Fadil Shamsuddin said today in a statement that the decision of the parliamentarians to obey the decree of the King and the council to support the budget is vital to ensure the well-being of the people as well the peace and security of the country.

“Al-Sultan Abdullah commends the support provided to pass the 2021 Budget to ensure the well-being and survival of the people and enable the recovery of the country’s economy that was affected by the global Covid-19 pandemic.

“His Majesty decreed that in addition to the economic recovery of the country and the survival of the people, the budget is very important for the government and authorities, especially those on the front lines, to continue implementing policies and efforts to manage threats and curb the spread of Covid -19, “he said.

According to Ahmad Fadil, Al-Sultan Abdullah has great respect for all registered political parties in the country and really appreciates the role played and the responsibilities assumed by all parliamentarians to ensure the well-being of the people.

As such, Ahmad Fadil said that Sultan Abdullah appreciated the commitment and cooperation of all parties to ensure the momentum of the nation’s economic recovery for mutual benefit and well-being.

“Sultan Abdullah also expresses his full confidence in the government’s ability to lead the administration of the nation when the country is being tested by various crises,” he said.

After two weeks of debate and four days of liquidation session by relevant ministers at the Dewan Rakyat, the Supply Bill or Budget 2021 was approved at the policy stage today.

It was approved by a majority vote after several MPs tried to initiate the block vote failed when only 13 MPs stood up, less than the 15 required.

The budget, the first for the Perikatan Nasional government, was presented by Finance Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz on November 6, and 82 MPs spoke during the November 9-19 debate.

An allocation totaling RM322.5 billion was proposed under the budget, making it the largest in the country’s history, primarily to help the government manage and cushion the economic impact of the Covid19 pandemic on people. and the country. – Bernama
