PETALING JAYA: Larry Sng said he will remain as the acting chairman of the Sarawak PKR, after meeting yesterday with the party chairman, Anwar Ibrahim.
“Our discussion touched on the proper Dayak leaders in PKR Sarawak, the autonomy of PKR Sarawak, the framework for the selection of candidates for the elections and our position on working with parties outside of PH,” Sng said in a Facebook post tonight .
“We reached an understanding and I will remain as president for the time being.
“I appreciate the support and full confidence that the president and PKR Sarawak have in me to lead the party in the next state elections.”
Julau’s deputy announced that he would resign as head of the state party on Tuesday.
However, Sng’s resignation was unanimously rejected by the Sarawak PKR leadership council, after which Sng said he would decide his next move after meeting with Anwar.
Sng previously said that it was best for PKR Sarawak to be led by a Dayak leader before the next state elections, as Dayak was the majority in Sarawak, but their areas were the poorest and most underdeveloped.
He was appointed party chairman in March to replace Selangau MP Baru Bian, who resigned from PKR during the “Sheraton Move”, which resulted in the overthrow of PH and Muhyiddin Yassin became prime minister.
