SINGAPORE: “We found Abah!”
This joyous reaction reflects the happiness of Ali Jais’s family, who received the news of his whereabouts less than 24 hours after Bernama reported the news related to the search for his family.
Thanks to the Facebook page of the border crossings between Malaysia and Singapore, which has 72,000 members, the search message from his youngest daughter, Khazimah Ali, made this quick reunion possible.
84-year-old Ali, who has been separated from her three children for the past 20 years, is now safe at the Bukit Batok Home for the Aged here.
The children believed he had been in Singapore all these years, based on Malaysian immigration department controls a few years ago.
“Alhamdulillah Abah is in good health. I was informed that Abah remembers all of our names. When they asked him the names of the children, he remembered everyone, ”said his eldest daughter, Hasliza Ali, who contacted Bernama to convey the good news.
Hasliza, 41, said the residence also confirmed her father’s identity through a copy of his identity card that she had in her possession.
“According to the house, Abah reminds us… it’s just that he didn’t know how to contact us,” she said with tears of joy.
The only photo of his father that he kept was also attached in the post.
“Someone informed me early this afternoon (November 16) via WhatsApp about the presence of Abah. I informed my older sister, who immediately contacted the care center, ”said Khazimah, 37.
The youngest daughter has expressed her hope that she will be able to celebrate Aidilfitri for the first time with him next year.
