Action taken against 433 people for violating MCO recovery on Saturday (Oct 3), says Ismail Sabri

KUALA LUMPUR: Compounds were issued to 345 people for violating the recovery movement control order (MCO), while another 60 were arrested and 28 released on police bail, says Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

The Chief Minister (Security) said that among the crimes committed on Saturday (October 3) are not wearing masks, participating in activities in discos, games of chance and not practicing physical distancing.

“The police-led enforcement operations task force conducted 39,362 checks across the country on Saturday.

“Among the locations inspected were 2,779 supermarkets, 3,499 restaurants and 2,653 banks,” it said in a statement on Sunday (October 4).

In Ops Benteng, Ismail Sabri said 76 undocumented immigrants and a trafficker were detained on Saturday.

“A total of 101 barricades were made nationwide.

“The government will crack down on any party that tries to enter the country illegally.

“The authorities will also strengthen security at all border controls and secret passages,” he added.

Meanwhile, 40,607 people returned from abroad between July 24 and October 3, Ismail Sabri said.

“A total of 9,138 people are still in mandatory quarantine at 67 hotels and 12 other facilities, while 106 people were sent to hospitals for treatment.

“So far, 31,362 people have been discharged and allowed to return to their homes,” he added.

In another matter, Ismail Sabri said 10,216 public sanitation operations have been carried out since March 30.

“13,085 premises were cleaned up, including 2,717 business centers, 1,602 housing developments and 2,624 public spaces,” he said.
