PETALING JAYA: About 89% of Covid-19 patients in Malaysia are asymptomatic or show mild symptoms, says Tan Sri Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah.

“Those are in category one and two. For patients in categories three, four and five, the percentage was originally 7%, but has increased to 11%,” said the director general of Health in his daily report Covid- 19 on Monday (December 28). ).

He assured that there are still beds available for patients, despite the delay in transfers lately.

“The delay is due to the increase in positive cases. It could take a day or two or even longer. This is mainly in the Klang Valley,” he said.

He urged patients to remain calm and isolate themselves at home in the meantime.

“Stay in touch with your district health officials and stay home until we come to send you to the hospital.

“We are also considering home quarantine, but there are certain criteria we must follow, including the suitability of the home and the health assessment tools necessary for our officers to monitor patients at home.”

“There is also the possibility of using worker dormitories as quarantine areas like what we did for the Teratai group, as this could reduce congestion at Maeps.

“However, currently our policy remains the same,” he said.

On current group updates, he said that five new groups had been reported.

Of the five, four are groups of workplaces.

The Jalan Gadang construction site group has been linked to the Lembah Pantai and Cheras districts in Kuala Lumpur.

Menara Sri’s group was also found to be linked to the aforementioned districts, as well as Kepong and Titiwangsa.

In Muar, Johor, Bukit Pasir’s group also identified themselves as from a workplace.

Putrajaya also registered a new group, the Putra 15 working group.

Only the Pintu Geng group in Kota Baru, Kelantan, was not linked to a workplace.
