PETALING JAYA: A new isolated cluster of Covid-19 has been identified involving the crew of a ship in Port Dickson, says the Health Ministry.
“The vessel involved has a travel history of origin in the port of Singapore,” it said in a statement on Monday (August 31).
“A total of 34 crew members were tested on August 28, and of the total, four tested positive for Covid-19, six tested negative, and another 24 are still awaiting results,” he said.
Tan Sri Health Director General Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah said the four positive cases were asymptomatic and involved two Malays and two non-Malays.
“After testing positive, they were sent to Sungai Buloh Hospital, so they had no risk of transmission from the local community, as it is an isolated imported group,” he added.
“Prevention and control measures such as disinfection and the decontamination process have been carried out on the ship,” he said, adding that the cause of the infection is still under investigation.
